“When we first sat down to sing in the grungy, fifth floor East Village walk-up where Tom Paxton and Noel Paul Stookey shared a loft space, there was magic in the air…”
And so begins the amazing new book “Fifty Years in Music and In Life” by Peter, Paul, & Mary. Last November I got an e-mail from Noel: “David…your song SPACESUITS has found it’s Peter, Paul, & Mary home! You know it’s always been one of my favorites of yours, and sure enough this month along with the book and a PBS special comes a 13 track CD (DISCOVERED) culled from reference recordings of live performances…”
A thrill beyond words for me. I was aware that Noel had performed Spacesuits often at PPM events, and now it comes full circle with it’s place on this CD.
In that spirit of empowerment that Peter, Paul, & Mary personified, year #2 of the Cape Cod Songwriters Retreat (CCSR) hosted by yours truly reconvened in January and March in Provincetown, MA ~ 3 days and nights of all-levels music and creativity classes and events at one of the most amazing Bed & Breakfast’s anywhere in the world, the Lands End Inn. Dates for 2016 are January 8-11 and March 7-10.
At our closing circle our hosts Eva and Stan Sikorski said “We will dearly miss you all, but now the walls will sing…”
In March I was also presented with the Grace Note award by the National Association of Unity Churches for “Outstanding Contribution to New Thought music”. I appreciated their acknowledgment at the 10th Annual Sound Connections Music Conference in Tampa. Folk music reaches across borders, transforming fences into bridges.

“So Far, So Good”
My 13th CD is here. Very excited to have new music out in the world, 14 new songs, a few co-writes (Tom Ryan, Richard Mekdeci, JD Martin & Lisa Aschmann) and the usual roller coaster ride of subjects and stories. Many thanks to the mighty Mark Dann ((who I’ve known and worked with since my days in Greenwich Village in the 1980’s) for his masterful musicianship and engineering.
Three tours of Ireland are now under my belt and the next one is August 13-22, 2016 … to counties Mayo, Galway, & Clare. We’ll spend three days/nights in each of the 3 counties, and after relaxed days of looking into the spectacular and poignant sites of this storied country, by night we take in the music ~ concerts, pubs AND joining in with virtuoso Irish musicians and local players, stories and tall tales. It is utterly magical, as 66 people will tell you (22 per tour).
My 3rd CD/LP for Stockfisch Records ~ Will You Come Home has also been released on DOUBLE vinyl (no songs were cut from the CD) and replicated at 45 RPMs for unmatched sound. Proud.
